Hybrid <scp>Ni<sub>2</sub>P</scp>/<scp>CoP</scp> Nanosheets as Efficient and Robust Electrocatalysts for Domestic Wastewater Splitting

The development of low-cost, robust and efficient non-noble metal electrocatalysts is still a pursuit for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Herein, self-standing electrocatalyst, Ni2P/CoP nanosheet, was fabricated directly on three-dimensional Ni foams by two facile steps, which illustrated both high activity stability HER in different electrolytes. Benefiting from porous structures nanosheets with large specific surface area hybrid Ni2P/CoP, as-prepared electrocatalyst presented remarkable overpotentials 65.2 87.8 mV to reach current density −10 mA cm−2 neutral alkaline media, respectively. Density function theory calculations revealed lower activation energy water dissociation steps compared mono CoP. maintained excellent chemical stability. Additionally, process domestic wastewater realized more impressive performance using commercial Pt/C. Hydrogen continuously generated 20 h mildly dishwashing wastewater. This work provides feasible way fabricate bimetallic phosphides showing great potential production re-utilizing resources.

An electron rich sodium-ammonia solution is used to effectively restore the π-conjugation of graphene.
